In winter, the Fichtelberg is a great attraction for thousands of skiers due to its elevation and the high-volume snow-making equipment as well and the therewith associated assurance of snow cover. It is not unusual to have over 140 skiable days in winter. The largest alpine ski area in Saxony is nearby and has 10 classified pistons with easy, medium and hard downhill runs with a total length of around 15 km.
The Flood Light Piston at the Main Ski Slope, the Funpark and the Halfpipe offer additional action in the ski region. Furthermore, cross-country fans have some 75 km of trails and ski hiking paths of varying degrees of difficulty at their disposal. Around 20 km of winter hiking trails for pedestrians and two luge runs along with a natural ice rink round out the options.
