Fichtelberg Rail

The romance of the rails is alive on Fichtelberg. You can enjoy the magnificent view between the health resort of Oberwiesenthal and Cranzahl, a distance of 17.35 km. You traverse 238 metres of elevation, 5 bridges and a viaduct on the route into the highest city in Germany, the Oberwiesenthal health resort. The trip in the elegant atmosphere of the buffet car, where you can enjoy a light snack or cake and coffee, is a special experience. The young and the young at heart can even take a turn driving the train. From there you have the best view and a glance into the technology from that era.

From May to September, you also have the opportunity to become familiar with the Erzgebirge in a whole new way in a four-hour evening programme: whether a drive by moonlight or a night time drive to Suppenland– you will experience an exciting evening with the romance of the steam railway, a guided evening hike, the romance of the campfire, hand-made mountain music, a stop for supper and other points on the programme.
